5 Things To Do In Sharm el Sheikh

By Rob Atherton

Sharm el Sheikh

Sharm is Egypt's oldest and most popular location. Its fabulous weather appeals to tourists from Europe and the rest of the planet over summer and winter. During the day, tourists chill out on the beach locations or by the swimming pool and at night, Sharm el Sheikh Old Town and Na'ama Bay come to life with a lot of bars, cafes and restaurants offering something for all.

In the daytime, for those who need to have something to keep them busy, there are several trips readily available and these are five of the very best excursions available. One of the original things that tempted tourists to the area was the wonderful underwater life and you'll be able to explore the stunning reefs with a snorkeling trip. The most a favourite places for the day trips are the Ras Mohammed National Park or Jackson Reef in the Straits of Tiran. Regardless of which trip you chose, you won't be disappointed.

Two hours away is Mount Sinai and there are frequent excursions taking tourists to the highest place in the Sinai to witness the sun rise over the mountains. The scenery around the mountains is dazzling and anyone choosing the early start won't be let down. An additional well liked destination in the Sinai is the magnificent Colour Canyon. Travelling by 4x4 vehicles, people can explore the amazing shapes and colours and rock formations of the Colour Canyon.

Cairo is always a popular tour from Sharm el Sheikh and frequent tours by plane and road take travellers off to the Egyptian capital. The day starts with a visit to the Cairo Museum which is packed with ancient items such as the well-known Mask of Tutankhamen. From the museum, the next stop is a spot of lunch of a Nile river boat prior to moving on to Giza and the Pyramids. The Sphinx is a brief bus ride away and immediately after taking time there, there is still time to drop by a perfume shop and a papyrus shop just before heading back to Sharm.

Not wanting to overlook an Egyptian encounter, a different well liked Sharm tour is an early evening camel ride out in the desert as well as a Bedouin meal. Taking in the quiet of the desert under a starlit sky is a great way to wind down after a day unwinding on the beach front.
