Finding Good Louisville KY Hotels For Leisure & Business

By John Renolds

Travelers in search of suitable Louisville KY hotels need to keep two main things in mind. First of all, it is important to know where the hotel is located in relation to the downtown area, airport and other places of interest for travelers. The second thing is the Kentucky Derby, because it completely changes the dynamics of a hotel stay here.

During the greatest 2 minutes in sports, it's not advisable to try to find a hotel at the last minute. Even if one is somehow available, the rates will be so high as to be virtually unaffordable for the ordinary Joe. So for those who plan to visit during Derby time, book a hotel at least a few months ahead of time.

Moral of the story is that visitors booking a hotel here during the Kentucky Derby need to book well in advance. Other than these few days, visitors will find it easy to locate and book convenient hotels. Even so, it's important to make sure the hotel is in the right place and offers all the required facilities.

For instance, travelers flying in at the International Airport will find many good hotels nearby on the Dixie Highway. By Louisville standards, these are all mostly quite affordable and decent. It is also ideal for both leisure & business travelers, since the location is close to the Expo Center, and to Kentucky Derby and the famed Churchill Downs.

Business travelers in town for a meeting at the Jefferson Riverport Industrial Community will find it just as easy to access when staying in the Southwest part of the city. So will those with business to attend to or friends & family to visit at the University. Those visiting the University shouldn't forget to take a look-see at Papa John's Stadium.

It's not a bad place to stay either, for those visiting downtown attractions like the Slugger Museum and Muhammad Ali Center. Not to mention for business travelers in town for a convention at the Kentucky Int'l Convention Center. Location and price aside, it is also important to choose a hotel with all the necessary amenities and facilities.

This means a hotel which offers an indoor heated pool and free high speed internet. Most decent Louisville KY hotels also have a restaurant/lounge onsite with a 24 hour business center and a fitness center to boot. The summary here is that Derby aside, a hotel stay here is very much likely to be affordable, convenient and comfortable - provided that travelers choose the right location.
