Emigrate to New Zealand

By Zak Dyer

When it comes to moving halfway across the world, one of the most important decisions that you will have to make is where you want to live. New Zealand is one of the world's most picturesque countries, and in almost every corner you will find an area which combines both the urban and country lifestyle. But when it comes to settling a family there are things more important that you need to consider such as schooling, work availability and general lifestyle, and for this reason it's important to really do your research before considering such a move.

Hamilton is a reasonably large area of New Zealand with an urban population of around 200,000 people and although it is not an area that is commonly talked about it is New Zealand's fourth largest city.

An urban centre has really started to develop in Hamilton in recent years and the area has seen its focus switch from what was once a very agricultural economy into a more urbanised development. As New Zealand's largest dairying area however, Hamilton does still promote itself as quite an agricultural heartland. For potential migrants, these two main industries combined with a strong retail and manufacturing industry make it a very appealing location for work.

Hamilton has also proven to be a very popular area when it comes to students, there are currently around 40,000 students in the area studying a wide variety of courses. Hamilton is home to three of New Zealand's major universities including the University of Waikato, Te Wanananga O Aotearoa and the Waikato Institute of Technology. These universities account for the majority of the areas 40,000 students.

Hamilton is well-known for its fairly temperate climate and does not have a great temperature range through winter or summer. In summer the temperature usually ranges around the mid 20s and in winter the temperature will generally range in the mid 10s, occasionally there may be a particularly hot or cold day.
